How Spending Time in Nature Benefits Your Health

Spending time in natural environments can benefit health and well-being. Nowadays, many of us spend most of our time holed up indoors on our laptops and smartphones. Granted, we’re not kids anymore, but what about those who are still kids? They’re opting to stay inside too.

A little fresh air, the sun on our skin, bare feet in the sand: spending time outside can bring so many small pleasures, making us feel refreshed and revived. Finding time to spend outdoors has lots of benefits, some of which you might find surprising!

1. Boost Your Mood: I find that even if I was grumbling at everything and everyone before getting back to nature, my mood automatically improves as soon as I step foot outside. It will reduce the feeling of stress and depression and makes you a calmer and happier you.

2. It helps to lose weight: Being outside may not a magical diet pill to lose weight. But it can make exercise more fun and enjoyable. some aspects of outdoor exercise like hiking may help you unexpectedly lose weight. Spending more time at higher altitudes helps to speed up your metabolism and lower your appetite. 

3. Boost happiness:  It is found that spending time in nature had more energy and feel happier. Whether it means going for a swim in the sea, taking the dog for a walk in the park, or mountain biking, finding outdoor activities that we enjoy will boost your mood and help you to feel happier. Plus spending time in nature promotes mental well-being. 

4. Stimulate creativity: Nature comes in so many colors, from orange-sky sunset, seafoam of green color, green gardens. Spending time in nature gives you a chance to inspire your creative side by the beautiful sight, smell, and sound of the outdoor.

5. Improve your immune system:  Research has shown that spending time outdoor and getting enough sunlight boosts your immune system. Make sure to take a walk outside and enjoy some outdoor activities that help to fight disease and stay healthy.

6. Better sleep: Spending time in nature and being exposed to vitamin D and the fresh air will help you sleep better. When the sun goes down, our brains will release the right levels of melatonin and it will help you to sleep better.

It will help us to live in the moment as we breathe in the air, listen to the sound of the birds chirping, or feel the grass on our feet. 10. Boost short term memory: “Interacting with nature gives your brain a break from everyday overstimulation, which can have a restorative effect on your attention levels." So spending little time with the flowers and trees actually improve your memory.
